Project Description

Nacho Frades' journey into the world of art is both fascinating and inspiring. From his earliest memories, art has been an integral part of his life. Even before he could articulate his thoughts into words, he expressed himself through drawings. As a toddler, he sketched intricate street scenes, complete with distinctive cars, on any surface he could find, from blankets to walls. This early passion for art was a clear indication of his destiny.

However, life had its own set of challenges. Despite his burning desire to become a painter, family circumstances seemed to conspire against his dreams. By his twenties, Frades found himself working in his father's company, a far cry from the artistic life he had envisioned. But fate had other plans. A chance encounter with "Deluxe Paint" on a floppy disk rekindled his passion. This software, which allowed him to paint digitally, was a revelation. It was a transformative experience, akin to love at first sight. He became so engrossed in digital painting that he dedicated all his time to it, sidelining his responsibilities in his father's company.

Frades' professional journey took him through various roles, including a stint as a salesman for Alias|Wavefront (Maya). It was during this phase that he was introduced to the world of 3D films. His boss, a supportive figure, recognized his talent and gave him the opportunity to work with some of the best digital painters in the industry. This experience was invaluable, not only for the technical skills he acquired but also for the artistic insights he gained, especially in the realm of lighting.

Upon leaving the company, Frades made a life-altering decision: he would become a full-time painter. With unwavering determination and despite financial constraints, he embarked on a digital art journey using Photoshop. He created a staggering number of pieces, selling them as digital print images. His exploration of Cryptoart on Twitter marked another pivotal moment in his career, offering a fresh perspective on art.

His latest collection is a testament to his evolution as an artist. Moving away from traditional object painting, Frades focuses on capturing the essence or "soul" of everyday items. Drawing inspiration from Metaphysical Painting and artists like Giorgio de Chirico, he aims to breathe life into inanimate objects, showcasing their inherent beauty and interaction with light. This collection is not just about the subjects but also about the interplay of light and materials, capturing the essence of steel, rubber, and glass.

In collaboration with Vertu Fine Art, Frades presents a series that is an exploration of reality. It's not about painting predefined subjects but delving deeper into the essence of everyday objects, revealing their "soul." This collection emphasizes the importance of light in art, a theme that has always been close to Frades' heart.

In conclusion, Nacho Frades' artistic journey is a testament to perseverance, passion, and the transformative power of art. His evolution from traditional oil painting to the digital realm reflects his adaptability and commitment to his craft. As the world of digital art continues to evolve, artists like Frades, who remain true to their vision and create with soul, will undoubtedly lead the way.
